Community-Based:
✓ Must be at least 18 years of age.
✓ Must not have any felony conviction within the past seven (7) years or display a pattern of criminal behavior, including misdemeanors, over any length of time.
✓ Must not have any DUI convictions within the past three years.
✓ Must not have more than 10 points within 3 years on driving record.
✓ Must have an automobile and a valid driver’s license and carry liability auto insurance.
✓ Must not use or have used illegal drugs during the past three years.
✓ Must submit three positive references who have known the applicant for at least 6 months.
✓ Must be available to meet with the child for at least one year and devote four hours per month.
✓ Must also submit roommate background checks for anyone who lives with the volunteer over the age of 18.
Site-Based:
✓ Must be at least 18 years of age.
✓ Must have access to reliable transportation.
✓ Must not have any felony conviction within the past seven (7) years or display a pattern of criminal behavior, including misdemeanors, over any length of time.
✓ Must have one personal reference and one professional reference.
✓ Must not use or have used illegal drugs during the past three years.
✓ Must be available for at least three semesters/ one and a half school years.
✓ Must be able to devote at least one hour per week for each semester.
